Links is one of the most important things used for navigation in Incentive.
You can link to content in a few different ways.
Internal link
Shortcut: CTRL+SHIFT+L
This is a link to another page in your Incentive installation. When you highlight a word that you want to turn into a link, Incentive automatically searches for content that relates to the highlighted word and gives you suggestions based upon that word. If you like to search for another word just type in that word in the box. The highlighted word will still be the linked word, even if you search for something else. When you are done, press "Link" to turn the word into a hyperlink.
Example: This is the SDK and this is the help.
External link
Shortcut: CTRL+SHIFT+E
Highlight a word that you want to turn into a link. Select "Link" in the menu (either right-click in Incentive version 2.1 or select in the menu to your left in Incentive version 2.2) . Type in the URL of the webpage that you want to link to. Don't forget the prefix (http://, https://, mailto:, ftp:// for example)! Click "Link" or hit Enter and you are done.
Example: "I have found a great blog post that you all shall read.
Link to a new page
Shortcut: CTRL+SHIFT+N
This is a really great way to involve other people in your article or simply to make a to-do list for yourself. You highlight the word or the phrase that you want to be "linkified", select "link to new article" and press "Link".
Over at
Wikipedia you may have seen the red links that appear on some articles. In Incentive we use the color green because we think it's prettier, but they mean the same thing. When you are in the middle of writing an article about a subject, you often don't want to save your article, create a new one, open the old article and creating a link to the new. That's why this "Link to a new page"-option exists.
After you've created and saved the new article (simply by clicking on its green link) the green link will be exchanged for a regular one.
