A wiki is the starting point or container for a set of articles within a specific area. Before creating the new wiki, ask yourself if an existing wiki already deals with the new subject of the new wiki. If this is the case you should probably create a new article under the existing wiki.
Creating the wiki step-by-step
- Title: Enter a title for the wiki. This should in a short wording that describes the wiki. E.g. Sales would be an appropriate name for a wiki that contains articles regarding the sales division of a company.
- Set access for the wiki: Access rights control what a group or person are allowed to see and which actions they are allowed to perform. Use either the predefined default access, defined in the settings section -> Default wiki permission, or specify your own set of access rights. Read more about permissions here.
To define your own set of access rights first click on "Customize access" then search for users or groups by clicking "Add user or user group". Enter part of the name to search for in the text box, then click search. Select the desired user or group from the list then click "Add". To remove a user from the selected items select it and then click "Remove". Finally, when all users and groups are selected, click "Ok".
The users and groups selected are now added to the list and displayed. Complete this step by setting the proper access rights for the users and groups.
- Introduction to the wiki: Use this text to introduce the purpose of this wiki. Try to make a fairly brief but exact description so that there are no confusion regarding the overall subject of the wiki.
- Tags: Tags are used to categorize content. Enter the tags that categorize this wiki. Separate multiple tags with comma (,).
